Hello Kitty!


There seems to be a resurgence of Hello Kitty happening... which I am not at all opposed to!  I was recently asked to make some Hello Kitty cupcakes for an order and was pretty excited play with some ideas!

 Started with some pink cupcakes....
 and kitty faces
 some pink frosting...and lost of luster dust!

Girl Scout Cookie Bake Off


Last week I represented Water Street Coffee Joint in the local Girl Scout Cookie Bake off.  Chef from local resturants were asked to prepare a dessert using Girl Scout cookies.  After much deliberation and a lot of trial and error I decided on a Samoa Waffle with Dulce de Leche gelato and a homemade salted caramel topping.

I crushed up the Samoa cookies and created a waffle using them, toasted coconut and coconut milk.  For the gelato, I used the vanilla bean gelato we serve at Water Street and added chunks of toasted coconut and crushed Dolce de Leche Girl Scout Cookies.  I put a scoop of the gelato on top of a warm toasted Samoa waffle and smothered the whole thing with a thick homemade salted caramel... Ta-da!

As part of the event we were also asked to create an auction item.  I made a fondant cake with gum paste daisies and gold girl scout cookies!

Columbus Ohiiiio

I'm in Columbus for a few days and decided to explore a few of the bakeries around town!

First stop was Pistacia Vera in German Village










 They are known for their french macaroons so I asked for five of their most popular flavors



 Mocha and pistachio

black Raspberry, coconut creme and nutella


I have another day here...I might need to take a second trip to Pistacia Vera..yanno to get some more for my friends...

Next I went over to Sugardaddy's, a little shop dripping in pink and offering brownies and blondies.



I was encouraged to try the Drunken Chunky Blondie, similar to a dense chocolate chip cookie with huge chunks of chocolate and toasted pecans with a hint of bourbon.

a rich peanut butter Blondie swirled with strawberry, like eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich
